The Lost Pony of Riverdale is the story of eleven-year-old Poppy McKeever who has recently moved to Devon with her family. Poppy was extremely reluctant to go, until she learned that the house comes with a pony- something she has wanted her whole life. However, upon arriving, she sees that there was no pony, and it was just a donkey the whole time! Or was it? There have been stories about a pony who was with a donkey, but that was a long time ago, and the pony has not been seen in years.

I really liked this book because it was very engaging, it kept me reading until the end. A lot of questions are introduced at the beginning, and it was really nice to see them unravelling as the story progressed. It had a nice element of mystery to it and I loved that.

I would recommend this book to people who like mystery, and of course, horses! I am not a pony-mad person myself but reading this book (and the rest of the series) has made me understand why Poppy likes them!
